Things You Probably Need to Know to Achieve Your Goals

I hope y’all had a great week! Today I am going to talk about how to achieve and accomplish your goals. This is what has worked for me in accomplishing my goals. I am going to share some tips with y’all, so I hope this can help you slay your goals this year and years to follow.

Find a Mentor – Find a mentor who knows more than you. You need to find someone who knows a lot about what you want to learn. My mentor is my amazing aunt and she is the best mentor! For example, most of my goals involve horses in some way and my aunt knows a ton about horses so I am learning about horses and mindset every time I talk to her.

Have an Accountability Partner – This ties in to having a mentor. My accountability partner is also my aunt. We share our goals with each other and we check in a few times a week. It really helps to have someone to share your goals with and if you are in a slump you can help each other get back on track. Something I learned when me and my aunt became each other’s accountability partners is that it is easier to stay on track and complete your tasks better when you have someone who is holding you accountable.

Write Your Goals Down – This is so important to write your goals down on paper. Do not just write them on your phone or type it on your computer, it is just not the same. You need to write it down first then you can type it on your computer. Did you know that you are 50% more likely to accomplish your goals if you just write it down.

Write Your Reality Goals and Fantasy Goals – Write down reality goals that you know you can accomplish. Now, write down your Fantasy goals, these are goals that you do not see how they could ever happen but would be amazing if you did. As your reality goals get accomplished you will be getting closer to your fantasy goals. For example, if your goal is to compete at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo one day and your reality goal is to get your WPRA permit well once you accomplish getting your permit. By accomplishing your reality goal, you just got that much closer to your fantasy goal of competing at the NFR.

Educate Yourself – This is one of the biggest things my aunt told me to do. One of my goals is to get another barrel horse and she told me until I can get another horse to educate myself as much as I can about the industry, and the way the way barrel horses move, so that way when I can get another horse I’ll know exactly what I am looking for. There are so many books and videos about everything. YouTube also has great videos of just about anything and they are free to watch.

Don’t Focus On How – Do not focus so much on how you are going to accomplish your goals. You need to focus on WHY you want to accomplish your goals. It is harder to figure out how you will accomplish your goals and you might even get discouraged trying to figure out how. Ask your self WHY do you want to accomplish that goal. If your goal is fitness related and you want to have a 6-pack in a certain amount of time then you’d ask yourself “Why do I want a six-pack?” Your why could be you want to feel confident in a swimsuit, you want to be healthy, or that you want to compete in body building competitions. Your why can be anything. Every time you get discouraged think about WHY you are doing what you are doing and if your why is strong enough it will help keep you on the right track.

Celebrate Your Successes – You really need to make sure that you are celebrating every success along the way. I think it is important to celebrate your little successes along with your big ones too. Do not forget to celebrate because you deserve it!
