How To Get Rid Of Toxins In Your Home

Hey y’all! I have been on a journey for about a year, slowly transitioning to a non toxic lifestyle. I am still on this journey to making the switch to healthier alternatives. I wanted to share with you all some simple things you can do today to start the switch if you just don’t know where to start. Just a disclaimer, it is always important to do your own research to figure-it what is best for you.

  • Cleaning Products: Traditional cleaning products are full of toxic chemicals. Just a few of these toxic chemicals include but not limited too, Ammonia, Formaldehyde, Fragrance and Sodium Hydroxide. These chemicals pose a serious risk to your health. Healthy alternative brands are Rowe Casa Organics, Seventh Generation, or Branch Basics.

  • Laundry Detergent: This is a good one to change. Just like traditional cleaning products your laundry detergent could potentially be extremely toxic as well. One of the most harmful ingredients in laundry detergent is 1,4 Dioxane. If you have a minute to research all of the ingredients in traditional detergents I really think you should. My favorite laundry detergent at the moment is by Seventh Generation. Also get rid of your dryer sheets and use dryer balls instead.

  • Water: Your tap water potentially is not as clean as you think. It can contain contaminates and the chemicals it is treated with can potentially have carcinogenic byproducts in it by the time you access it. I think its super important to not only filter drinking water but you also can come in contact with the contaminants in the shower water too.

  • Candles & Air Fresheners: Throw these away right now as we speak. Artificial Fragrances are so detrimental to your health. They are endocrine disruptors. The phthalates can cause cancer, infertility, respiratory problems and many other health issues. If you were to change one thing today get rid of false fragrances. Try 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils or candles from Rowe Casa Organics.

  • Nonstick cookware: Non-stick pans can have PFAS and PFCs in them which are highly toxic. When it gets heated up, it releases chemicals into the air. You can still enjoy the luxury of a nonstick pan but make sure it is not toxic. Make sure it is PFAS, PFOA, and PTFE free.

  • Switch to Glass: Limiting your exposures to BPAs will help in the long run. BPAs can cause problems with reproductive health, immunity, and can even effect you neurologically. Get rid of the plastic in your kitchen and switch to glass.

There are many other things you can do to start eliminating toxins in your home. But these are good ones to start with. Be aware of green washing when shopping for non toxic products, I will talk more on that later. But don’t just look at the label, read the ingredients on the back.
