How is Multitasking bad??

Multitasking. It is something that we have all done and we’ve been taught that it’s better to work on more than one thing at once to try to get things done faster. The reality of it is, working on more than one thing at once takes longer to get everything done and gives you the chance to fail at more than one thing. For example, right now as I am writing this I am listening to music at the same time, which seems like multitasking right? Well sure it is but I can only Focus on one thing at a time and my brain just goes back and forth between the two. My brain will tune out the music sometimes and moments later it’ll listen to the music again and not focus so much on what I am writing. So, with that you will actually accomplish things faster if you prioritize and work on one thing at a time. I understand there are a lot of important things that you need to get done but you must pick one of those to put your undivided attention.

Multitasking increases your chances of failure. You also do not work as productive and effectively while multitasking. I am guilty of trying to focus on more than one thing at a time and let me tell you it does not work so well. So I am going to run an experiment this week with myself. I am going to be honest I have a bad habit of listening to music or using my phone during school and while most of the time the music is just a background noise, sometimes I’ll be taking a little quiz and I won’t even remember reading a certain part. Well, that’s because I wasn’t focused on school in that moment. So, I am not going to listen to music, I am going to put my phone away, and I will put headphones on to block out other distractions and see how it goes.

I can’t remember who but a celebrity once said that she has to be careful not to read the signs in the audience or else she will sing what the sign says not the correct lyrics. Again, that is because your brain can only focus on one thing at a time. Even though it might be able to do more than one thing at a time. I plan on creating an E-course in the near future that will be available for y’all to purchase and I will touch more on this subject in the E-course.
