3 All Natural Products & Uses for Your Horse
Hey y'all! I hope you had a fantastic week! In today's post I am going to show you three all natural products you can use on your Horses. Most of these products are budget friendly as well which is awesome! *
"Advice from a HORSE. Take life's hurdles in stride. Loosen the reins. Be free spirited. Keep the burrs from under your saddle. Carry your friends when they need it. Keep Stable. Gallop to Greatness." - Lian Shamir.
Coconut Oil - Detangler/Moisturizer: You can slather this directly on their mane and tail to detangle and moisturize, and it works wonders. I have just left it on the mane before but you can rinse it out and use the coconut oil like a conditioner. Just keep in mind that it is an oil and is super greasy so it can be a bit messy. You can also use this as a hoof conditioner.
Chia Seeds - This has so many benefits for your Horse(s) including: Sand colic prevention, hydration, healthy skin, hooves, and coat. It can help build muscle, it has a calming effect, it can reduce inflammation and provide allergy relief for your Horse. The majority of sources have recommended to feed 1/3 cup (2oz.) a day for maintenance. You can feed up to 2/3 cup (4oz) during periods of travel, heavier training, or to help with certain conditions. The great thing is Chia seeds can be fed straight to your horse raw, you can mix it in their feed, or you can soak them as well.
Apple Cider Vinegar: The benefits of ACV include: helps treat thrush, Skin issues/wounds, and insect control. To treat thrush you can spray a little undiluted ACV in the crease on the side of the frog. You can also take 1 gallon of water mixed with 1/4 cup of ACV to soak the hoof to help treat hoof abcesse's or fungus. For skin issues/wounds you can just spray a little diluted ACV to help treat it. You can add 1/4 cup of ACV to your horses feed which you can add equal parts water to dilute or add 1/4 cup of ACV to their water. Be sure to buy raw and unfiltered ACV. I purchase Bragg's ACV that is raw and unfiltered.
